8 hour camping

Eight hour camping, I highly recommend it. We along with some friends of ours headed off to Pine Mt. to spend a day camping (if you can call it that) with the kids. The master plan came from our friend J.D. We thought it was a great idea particularly considering we would be home that night to sleep in our own beds. It was so much fun. Our kids had never been to a camp site let alone around a real camp fire before. Pretty sad I know. They LOVED every minute of it. Spending the day outside was like heaven on earth for them.
Here's a few pics of our day.

The camp site.
The campers
Spence and his good buddy Cade hanging in the tent.

roasting marshmallows

The boys roasting away

The men tending the fire.

Kar and Avery

Noah enjoying the sweets

The girls relishing the last few minutes by the fire before we had to go.

Tamara and Carter.
We had the best day. Maybe next time Luke and I (okay mostly I) will muster up the courage to stay the night.

What a GREAT idea! So ingenious. I love that you are home in your own beds to sleep at night. And how nice that you can camp in January in Georgia!

I am thinking that that idea is a huge WINNER! How fun....so did you actually have to pay for a camp site? That would be kind of strange, but probably cheap if you did.

Now that is a brilliant idea. You get the feeling of camping, but you don't have to sleep on the ground or deal with kids through the night. Will and I are normally great outdoorsy people, but after taking Preston camping when he was 2 months old....I decided that camping with a baby was NOT fun. So maybe the 8 hour camping thing is something we will have to try. hAha.

On another note we missed you guys at Yellowstone. You were all in our thoughts the entire time. Hope your Christmas at home was wonderful though!

What a great idea! Camping would be so much more fun if half the work (packing the tents and sleeping gear) were eliminated. What's the big deal about sleeping under the stars? That's why skylights were invented!
